“Sabado por la Noche” Estimated at $13–16 Million
Jean-Michel Basquiat’s “Sabado por la Noche” (meaning “Saturday Night”), a work by the renowned American Neo-Expressionist artist, will be up for auction at Christie’s Hong Kong with an estimated price range of $13–16 million.
Created in 1984, this artwork combines acrylic, silkscreen, oil stick, and paper collage on canvas, depicting two Griot figures—symbols in Basquiat’s work representing storytellers and keepers of oral history in West African culture.
