the Hall of a Hundred Columns

This photo is of the Hundred-Column Palace in the Persepolis complex. The Hundred-Column Palace, also known as the Throne Hall or Council Hall, was one of the largest palaces in Persepolis and was built by the order of Xerxes. In this image, the remains of the massive columns and doorways of this palace can be seen. This palace is famous by this name due to having one hundred tall stone columns. The Hundred-Column Palace was used to host commanders, dignitaries, and representatives of various nations of the Achaemenid court.
